We strive to foster professional growth and development in our student employees. Our guiding framework from which we develop learning opportunities and outcomes come from the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Workshops are offered year-round to student staff as part of our SEEDS (Student Employee Education and Development Series).

Looking for a meaningful way to earn money while you learn? Space & Events Management offers student employment opportunities that help you gain valuable skills and experience in event management, hospitality, and customer service. Explore current openings and apply online through Workday. Students should log into Workday and enter the Student Job Portal to apply for these positions.

Student Employee Job Descriptions
Student Manager—Houston Hall
Student Managers (SM) in Houston Hall provide peer supervision and support to the Building Ambassadors and Welcome Desk Attendants who work at the Welcome Desk. They assist with the scheduling, operations, training, and development of their teams.
Building Ambassador—Houston Hall
Building Ambassadors (BA) work at the Welcome Desk, greet visitors, and provide answers to visitor questions. They also provide important building walk-throughs and safety checks of Houston Hall during their shifts. BAs document building related concerns during their shifts and file the appropriate reports to resolve issues while informing their supervisors.
Welcome Desk Attendant—Houston Hall
Welcome Desk Attendants (WD) work at the Welcome Desk, greet visitors, and provide answers to visitor questions. They maintain a neat and orderly Welcome Desk while on shift.
Building Ambassador—ARCH
Building Ambassadors for The ARCH (BA) work at the Welcome Desk, greet visitors, and provide answers to visitor questions. They also provide important building walk-throughs and safety checks of The ARCH during their shifts. BAs document building related concerns during their shifts and file the appropriate reports to resolve issues while informing their supervisors.
Event Assistant Student Manager—Houston Hall
The Event Assistant Student Manager (EASM) in Houston Hall provides peer supervision and support to Event Assistants who work in Houston Hall 307. They assist with the scheduling, operations, training, and development of their teams.
Event Assistants—Houston Hall
Event Assistants (EA) provide front desk coverage in Houston Hall 307 and serve as customer service representatives for the Events and Operations Team within University Life Space and Events. They direct visitors and callers to the appropriate resources on the Events and Operations Team.
