Space & Events is equipped with many customizable spaces to meet your needs. Whether you are looking to accommodate a large conference or an intimate meeting, we offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor campus spaces for the Penn community including locations in Houston Hall, Irvine Auditorium, and the Arts, Research, and Culture House (ARCH).

Student Union @ Houston Hall

Built in 1896, the Student Union @ Houston Hall is the oldest student union building in the country. Today, this historic building remains the center of campus life; a place where students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests gather for social, recreational, educational, and cultural activities.

Irvine Auditorium

Completed in 1932 by renowned Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer, the Main Hall at Irvine Auditorium seats 1,259 and houses the Curtis organ, the eleventh largest pipe organ in the world. Irvine Auditorium also houses an acoustic recital hall, four additional special event spaces, production offices, a box office, a coatroom, dressing rooms, and music practice rooms.

The Arts, Research, and Culture House (ARCH)

The Arts, Research, and Culture House was built in 1927 as the Christian Association. In January 2014, a nearly two-year restoration of the ARCH concluded, breathing new life into the historic, late-Gothic Revival structure in the heart of Penn's campus at 36th Street and Locust Walk.

Outdoor Spaces

Space & Events maintains reservation privileges at two outdoor spaces on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus: Penn Commons and College Green. Both located in the center of campus, these outdoor spaces are ideal for concerts, tented events, and public speakers.

Central Pool Classroom

The Central Pool Classroom system comprises 165 classrooms in 29 buildings throughout Penn's campus. These classrooms are primarily used for regular undergraduate and graduate classes, although a large number of academic special events, student activities, conferences, and community groups also use the facilities.

On-Site Food Options

The Houston Market, located on the ground floor of Houston Hall, was completely renovated in 2018, including enhancements to the kitchen, serving and seating areas, and the introduction of new dining concepts. Seating arrangements have integrated technology, allowing diners to plug-in, charge, and connect.
